La fontaine Morand sur la place Lyautey
Réalisée par l'architecte Antoine Desjardins, la statue commémore un événement politico-administratif d'importance. En effet, elle a été élevée sur une commande des habitants et de la ville pour remercier Napoléon III d'avoir instauré la disparition du péage sur les ponts du Rhône. La statuaire avait été confié au sculpteur réputé Guillaume Bonnet. À la base, un large bassin ; au dessus, cinq gueules de lions remplissent cinq vasques qui symbolisent les cinq arrondissements du Lyon de l'époque. Encore au dessus cinq génies dus au ciseau du sculpteur Clauses représentent la Navigation, la Force (ou l'Industrie), le Commerce, l'Histoire et la Géographie. Toutefois, c'est surtout la grande statue de 3 mètres 85 représentant la Ville qui retient l'attention des spectateurs. Bonnet aurait pris sa femme comme modèle. Altière, la tête parée d'une couronne murale, elle est drapée dans une longue robe à la romaine. La statue définitive en marbre de Carrare est posée en août 1867.
